You may have noticed a few familiar beautiful faces pop up consistently within the Chasing Unicorns world, these are our brand's goddesses. They are women who connect and inspire us with their intelligence, views, passions, creativity, beauty and kindness; women whose smiles and gorgeous souls radiate with all that we stand for at Chasing Unicorns. Montana Lower is one of these incredible women and a face you will no doubt find familiar due to our ongoing love affair with this dynamic, down to earth incredible beauty. We sat down with Montana to talk life, summer and all things in between so that we can share a little of her infectious magic with you! It’s hard not to fall instantly head over heels for this inspiring and wondrous woman….we did and we hope you do too!
Q. WHO IS MONTANA LOWER? TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOU.
Funny you ask - I've just finished university and I feel like I'm meeting myself for the first time. At the moment, what I know is - I'm 22 and live in Byron Bay. I live for self-expression and seeing that in others. I love to smile and to make other people smile. I'm probably the dorkiest, clumsiest person you've ever met. And if I'm not working - I'm at the beach!
Q. WHERE DO YOU FIND INSPIRATION IN THIS LIFE?
A lot of my inspiration comes from nature. A curled leaf, a flower that has found its way through the pavers, the way it's constantly changing. Mother Nature acts with a very planned spontaneity and is a constant source of new, but very old ideas. I also love talking to people and hear about their journeys and walks of life. Everyone has such different ways of viewing things. Perspective is everything.
Q. WHAT CREATIVES DO YOU ADMIRE ON SOCIAL MEDIA OR IN YOUR WORK LIFE AND WHY?
Chasing Unicorns... no really! I honestly answer this the same whenever someone asks. I love the way Sarah incorporates her family life into her account, and you feel like you are wearing a part of her story. I love the girls she chooses to work with too (haha not meaning myself!), but we're all a part of this lovely little family that embraces natural femininity in all shapes and forms, and I love to see that.
Q. WHAT ARE YOUR PASSIONS?
I have a major passion for speaking up about empowerment for women. This comes through in most things I do without knowing it. I love to paint to embrace the women form for its energy, rather than its objectification. I love to write about topics that I encounter as a young woman and share my experience with others. I find real support in standing together with other women in similar situations. It means so much to me that just by sharing my battles and feats, that I could give somebody on the other side of the world the motivation that they needed today. I also have a major passion for the environment and show this where I can. The environment is everything but black and white, and I believe that contributions of consciousness, from any size or place, help tremendously.
Q. HOW DOES CHASING UNICORNS SPEAK TO YOU?
I was first drawn to Chasing Unicorns because of its understated femininity and detail - the INCREDIBLE detail in each piece blows my mind. I'm naturally a bit of a tomboy, and never thought I'd see myself in long dresses. But honestly now, Chasing Unicorns are my go to. I know it sounds a bit biased, but I cannot boast enough about the confidence that each piece gives me. And every time you leave the house in Chasing Unicorns, people stop you and say the most beautiful things about the clothes. Lovely people too - elderly ladies, young girls. It's just a gift. I think everyone deserves to feel like that.
Q. WHAT DOES SUMMER 2017/18 BRING FOR MONTANA?
Ohhhh summer! I think a whole lot of chilling on the beach. Things have been very busy lately, I'm looking forward to focusing on my friends and family. So I think to summarise - sunshine, surfing, journaling, eating, waterfalls, painting, and always a bit of spontaneous travel. That will make me very, very happy.
